Learn more why porcelain countertops are more durable!
While new in the U.S. market, full slab porcelain for kitchen countertops has already proven itself in the European market to have all the best characteristics that people love in granite, quartzite or marble slabs.
Then what is the difference? – It’s a question you may ask, and the answer is quite simple: full slab porcelain has the beautiful natural stone characteristics, but they come without the hassle.
Natural stone can have such as fissures, but full slab porcelain does not stain or etch like some natural stones can.
It might sound overselling, but these porcelain slabs do live up to such hype, so lets break it all down.
Quartzite – not quartz!
Despite the names, quartz and quartzite are not close relatives – they have different strength and durability, color options, maintenance requirements and prices.
The main difference between them is that quartz slabs are man-made (they add resins, polymers, and pigments to it) while quartzite is 100% natural – it is mined from the ground and sawn just like granite or marble.
Quartzite isn’t as porous as granite and marble but (like every natural stone) it still needs proper sealing to prevent staining – in this respect, living with quartz countertops is slightly easier but quartzite is still a low maintenance solution (its cleaning is quite effortless).
Quartzite is much more adaptable than quartz; while direct sunlight is harmful to quartz, quartzite is completely UV resistant, and won’t start fading even if your kitchen is on the sunny side of the house.
Strong like granite
In durability, granite is in the TOP 10 on the earth and quartzite is a worthy contender.
Extremely hard, outstandingly heatproof and not easy to scratch – still, we don’t recommend cutting on quartzite. Use a cutting board when cutting and a hot pad for hot pots and pans.
To keep the beauty of your kitchen countertops and the sharpness of your kitchen knives – use all of your kitchen tools properly.
Beautiful like marble
Many people choose quartzite because they wish for something gorgeous like marble but don’t want to spend much time with the cleaning and upkeep.
Quartzite has a wide range of colors and some slabs could be easily confused with marble.
If you love the allure of clean and bright kitchens, then marble is not your only option – give a chance to a more durable material!
How to care for my quartzite kitchen countertops?
Quartzite, like every porous material, needs to be sealed – but what else is necessary to keep it clean and beautiful?
- Clean it regularly with simple soap and water or a cleaner made for quartzite/marble/granite;
- Never use abrasive cleaners as they will harm the finish;
- All spills must be wiped up with a damp cloth instantly; especially harmful liquids like wine, lemon juice, orange juice, coffee, etc.
Not every quartzite slab is the same: some have a more porous surface and some have a less porous surface, so you should always make sure that your countertops are properly sealed.

Every kitchen and every kitchen countertop is different and that’s why we can only give you accurate prices if you contact us.
If the slab you choose isn’t commonly available or the plans and the design of your countertops are complex, the price can increase – the more unique your countertops, the more expensive the cutting and installing can be.
