Seams: should we be afraid of them?

Seams: should we be afraid of them?

In an ideal world, countertops wouldn’t have seams, but in real life, it may be necessary.

Seams give us the opportunity to make layouts more practical and aesthetic.

In this article we give you the answers for all your questions around countertop seam placement and the reasons why they may be required.

Why do countertops require a seam?

We always try to avoid using seams in your countertop project, but sometimes making a countertop from one slab would be impossible.

In which situations do we use seams?

  • When the countertop is too large. Making an oversized countertop from one big slab sometimes isn’t a good idea, because the material became more fragile. In this situation we use smaller pieces in order to make the transport and the assembly safer.
  • We also use seams when we want to make a special shape. For example: L-shapes or any other special layout would be impracticable from one slab.
  • Sometimes the pattern looks nicer if we use an additional seam because we can fit textures to each other. In some cases, seams can actually increase the aesthetics of the countertop.

You can see from this list, that seams could be useful, and you have no reason to be afraid of them being required on your project.

Can the seams separate from each other?

Can the seams separate from each other?

One of the most frequently asked question is what should we do if the pieces of the countertop are separating from each other?

We should make clear that this is a really rare occurrence if we use the countertop as intended.

But if for some reason something does occur with your seam, we provide you a lifetime warranty.

This warranty ensures if the seams separate, our warranty service technician will repair them for you.

Is it more expensive if my countertop is fabricated from multiple slabs?

Your budget is a really important factor in your countertop project.

With that in mind, you should pay for what you really need: With our company, you don’t have to pay for the whole slab, just for the material that we use for your countertop.

This gives you the opportunity to mix materials and colors, and you don’t have to pay enormous amounts even if your countertop is made from 2 or 3 different slabs.
